The effectiveness of teams depends on the contributing members of the team. Broadly speaking, the behavior of the team members and the behavior of the team leader determine the effectiveness of the team. Team leaders have to ensure that team members are well motivated and have a clear goal of the task in hand. Team leaders have to ensure that team members are cooperating well with each other. They have to analyze the relationships between team members and resolve any conflicts should the need arise. Leaders should use professional confrontation, disciplinary action, negotiation and encouragement to spur the team members on.
