To manage quality improvement in team, Tuckman Model of team maturity is of a great help. The model shows the different stages a team goes through to emerge as a high performing QI team. To accomplish their goal every member of the quality improvement team must take complete onus. The leaders of the teams must take the following steps to drive the teams in the right direction: 1. Develop a Team Charter/AIM Statement: A Team charter/AIM Statement must be drafted by the sponsor and the members must be encouraged by him to make efforts to achieve process and quality improvement. These rules can also be measured and the people with a low score can work on the development areas. Make sure everyone understands their role: The roles must be assigned to every member of the team at the start of the team process. Everyone must have clarity regarding what is expected from them. Build the trust level of the team: With the development of the team’s identity, members feel equally responsible to one another for the objectives and progress of the team. Identity of the team helps in overcoming a lack of effort and commitment and conflict between the goals of the team and the personal goals of the members. Handle team conflicts in a professional way: The conflicts among team members must be resolved wisely and at the right team.
