The leading cause of suicide in youths aged 10 to 24 in the United States, is youths that are bullied. Suicide does not discriminate against. Suicide ranging from those being bullied due to Race, religion, sexual orientation and gender.
The objectives of this article are to examine how race/ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation shape adolescents' likelihood of being bullied and their vulnerability to suicide ideation. The Method used was one of analysis of data stemming from the years of 2009 up to and including 2011. The results of the study show that gay and bisexual men and women, were more likely to be bullied than were heterosexual adolescents.

Based on the information in my research, there has been given results to tests and surveys to validate the author’s position on this topic. The evidence cited by the author is current for the years 2009-2011, it is apparent that not much has seemed to change over the years and many teens are still to this day experiencing bullying due to their sexual orientation. Stopping bullying requires that the adults in charge stay aware, set a good example, intervene to stop unsafe behavior, and teach personal safety skills to the young people in their lives. Practicing what to say and do prepares young people to take charge of their emotional and physical safety, to increase their confidence, and to develop positive peer relationships. It is apparent that there are several types of bullying behaviors. They include verbal belittling regarding religion, race, looks, or speech; hitting, pushing or slapping; spreading rumors; and making sexual comments or gestures.
