Issues That Impact the United States’s Future
According to the article "Teen Suicide Awareness: Statistics," every day there are approximately eleven teen deaths. It also states that every year there are ten youth suicides for every 100,000 youth. While the United States faces many challenges, there are three important issues that cannot be ignored. The first issue that Americans face is the debt. The second issue that the United States is facing is the increase of teen suicide, and the last issue if the rise in obesity of its citizens. The United States debt has been increasing, because we are spending money we don’t have. They may not eat much, but what they do eat isn’t a healthy option. Once people have been obese for a while, they go on diets and may even have surgeries to decrease the fat (American Obesity). These solutions to obesity could end up being worse than the health risks of obesity. One solution for helping obese people, according to the article “What Is the Solution to Obesity?” would be for stores and restaurants to advertise healthier food options. They should make it easier to get healthy food (Fell). Doctors and others in the health industry should make it easier to get a bariatric surgery done. Additionally, misleading advertising that says you can only lose weight by going to the gym should be removed. One might say that educating people about obesity and letting them know what could happen to them may help motivate them to lose the fat. Even though people may not want to be obese or overweight, they may not be able to help it. It could be in their genes and DNA.
