In America, new trends and ideas are constantly being made when it comes to making food more convenient for people. There are many aspects that have changed throughout the years, in terms of food services, but with these additions, there are many issues that have been worsening as time went on. America is known as the most obese country in the world, and it starts with the very poor eating habits and the lack of healthier choice, when deciding to eat an apple over french fries. Consumers will more than likely choose the food that is less expensive, and unfortunately, the unhealthier option is what’s cheap. The question is why is unhealthy food so much cheaper than healthy food? There are many possible alternatives that can change obesity in the nation, such as lower prices of healthy foods, educating the public on how to manage their diet, and make economy encourage everyone to get on board with the new change that needs to happen. By definition, obesity is a “weight that is higher than what is considered as a healthy weight for a given height is described as overweight or obese,” according to the website cdc.gov. The rates of obesity have increased dramatically among adolescents, and is creating the epidemic of this eating disorder to become one of America’s major causes for other health concerns. Referencing from Sutter Health, on Teen Obesity, obesity has a chain of even more health issues, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, strokes, and some forms of cancer. In addition, from Teen Obesity, the statement was made “In the past 30 years, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled among adolescents,” (2).
