Exercise is important for person since it helps maintain their weight. Most Americans do not get the amount of exercise needed a day for their age group. “A new government study estimates that nearly 80 percent of adult Americans do not get the recommended amounts of exercise each week, potentially setting themselves up for years of health problems “ (Jaslow). Exercise could also help fight off diseases that may cause you grave harm. This is why most obese people are suffering from a series of grave diseases, doing exercise would help combat the weight gain and help reduce the chance of a person getting heart disease, etc. “In fact, regular physical activity can help you prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, arthritis and falls” (Staff). Depression can also cause obesity, seeing as food would help cover up or make people happy. People would want to eat more food, more often to make themselves feel better. This causes people to gain more weight. Yet, knowing that exercise helps protect them from gaining weight and disease, Americans still do not get the recommended amount of exercise needed. Electronics can also be held accountable for this because some people spend most of their time, inside not getting exercise.
