The video is called “The Danger of the Single Story”, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie claims that there is diversity all over the world, but people misinterpret it without knowing how people really are. People judge others by the way they look and automatically make assumptions that may not be correct. The majority of people make assumptions as what they have simply heard or based on a novel. According to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, “All I had heard about them was how poor they were so that it had become impossible for me to see them as anything else but poor” (“Single Story”). Adichie right away just assumed that the family was low-income and that they could not do anything nor have any qualities as she only seen the family as poor. Her roommate right away assumed she did not have all the abilities Adichie actually has and thought she was Africa and thought. For example, speaking fluent English, knowing how to use a stove, and her music taste. According to her, she herself has also judge others by the way that people been described to her. According to her, there were many perspectives going on about immigration in the country of Mexico (Adichie “Single Story”). But, they were all rumors and describe as a single story. It was not until Adichie went of to Guadalajara, Mexico. She then noticed that it was not quite true, people were not just in poverty they actually worked as hard as they can to make money for themselves and to provide for their families.
