The Degrading of Human Awareness in M.T. Anderson’s Feed In M.T. Anderson’s Feed, the world has become a dystopian future. Pollution levels has gone through the roof, and people now have the internet in their head called the ‘Feed’. The Feed is a computer that has been installed in your head. People in the novel have become so dependent on all this technology. Throughout the book, M.T. Anderson satirizes how humans have become so dull because they rely so much on technology. And no one even try to resist this idea of ignorance.
Throughout the story, Violet only person who is shown constantly resisting the Feed. She doesn’t like to be like the others, who are completely blinded by what is happening. She would argue that everyone has become so basic, “They keep making everything more basic, so it will appeal to everyone. And gradually, everyone gets used to everything being basic” (M.T. Anderson 97). Violet doesn’t like to be what this society has deemed as normal, she wants to break out of the mold that has been created by the culture.
