According to Clyde Barrow’s sister Nell, their parents were not the criminal type, they were hard working farmers who cared for their children. In Fugitives: The Story of Bonnie and Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, Clyde’s sister recalls that due to the Great Depression, their parents weren’t able to provide a stable house hold for Clyde and his siblings. This resulted in Nell and Clyde’s parents sending them off to live with their uncle in Corsicana. While their uncle was not a bad guy, he didn’t instill much discipline in Clyde. According to Nell, the uncle “Didn’t see why children should be made to attend school if they didn’t want to, and he didn’t send us.” Additionally, Nell also recalls that they never were at home with their parents
