A character whom I admire and can relate to is Tea Cake from Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston. After Janie experiences years of suffering, Tea Cake enters her broken life to begin the healing process. Although Tea Cake's madness caused by rabies tragically forces Janie to kill him to save her life, its significance is that Tea Cake's love transformed her enough to make her learn to love and value her own life. Like me, I believe that Tea Cake wanted to love and show kindness to someone who needed healing without reserve. It was an imperfect journey, but with sincerity and genuine care, Tea Cake closed the wounds in Janie's life.
In chapter 8, “Gift for the Darkness,” the conch shell, used to call the boys to a meeting, is at the point where its authoritative power has completely diminished, and is no longer the primary concern among the boys on the island. When Jack’s group separated from Ralph’s group, Jack realizes that the only way they can survive is with the use of fire. Jack and his tribe conclude that the only way to get fire is to steal it from Ralph. With spears in their hand, Jack, Maurice and Robert raid Ralph's territory and steal part of their fire. Piggy observed this, “When I saw Jack I was sure he’d go for the conch.
I think that this book is a classic because of the major and exciting themes in the book that kids are always interested in. Some themes in the book are, for Example: The main character Tex has many hardships and adventures with his friends. When he was in school he got in trouble for putting exploding caps on the keys of typewriters with his friend Johnny. Also when his horse was sold by Mason I could relate

The musical Seussical the Musical was a jovial experience that made many including me reminiscence the times when we read Dr. Suess. The creative sets, colorful costumes, and the acting skills brought Dr. Seuss 's books alive. I truly enjoyed the aspect of joining Dr. Seuss books and plots, like Gertrude McFuzz to create one plot and the inclusion of The Cat in the Hat in many of the scenes. The musical captured the ambience of the books, specifically Horton Hears A Who. The dedication of those in the musical shined from their eminent acting skills and their ability to display the character they portrayed.
Danny Brown just announced on an Australian radio station that he is writing a children's book. Before you rush to judgement, I can't think of a better artist to write a children's book than Danny Brown. Danny makes claim that his book will feature rhyme patterns similar to Dr. Seuss. Just like a Dr. Seuss book, the rapper's lyrics are also colorful, wacky, humorous, and oddly entertaining. His experience of watching his 13-year-old daughter grow up influenced his children's book.
In “The Lorax By: Dr. Seuss” you read about a boy that finds a large plain and finds the most beautiful trees and takes the seeds from the tree to plant a large forest of them for his own financial gain. After the forest flourishes with beautiful trees and teeming with wildlife. After a while he realizes he can set his business up in the middle of the beautiful forest so he begins cutting down the trees. “The Lorax” comes around the time he cuts down half the forest and tells him to stop cutting down the trees. The man refuses the Lorax and calls his entire family to aid him in the destruction of the forest.

In the article, Untamed: On Making Friends with Animals, written by David Sedaris, claims that pets with their diets and owners care for them is just nonsense and a nuisance. Sedaris notes that his siblings own pets, of which he does not wish to have one for the fact of knowing what the pets of his siblings do. The author claims that his brother “has to change his doormat” knowing “that’s how much his savages drag home.” (Paragraph One). After his brother, Sedaris mentions that his sister is “returning home from work to find a chipmunk on her sofa, its head chewed to paste, or a bird that’s not quite dead flapping the stump that used to be a wing” (Paragraph One).
Humor in the Henhouse In his essay “Chicken in the Henhouse”, Sedaris utilizes various forms of humor to demonstrate that you can’t stereotype an entire group of people and that you shouldn’t judge people. Sedaris argues that stereotypes cause a negative self image and feelings such as guilt despite being innocent of any misdeeds society implicates him in. Serdaris uses humor to make himself more relatable which can be explained through the use of the superiority, incongruity, and relief theories to prove that stereotypes can not define everybody. By practicing humor throughout his essay, the author makes his argument more effective and able to further impact his audience more than it would have without humor.
In today’s society, it is common for families to be understanding of one another. It was 8:00 at night when I was getting ready for bed; however, after I was finished, my dad would read me one of Dr. Seuss's marvelous books. As I was growing up, I thought the books that Theodor Seuss Geisel wrote were nothing but rhyming and nonsense, but when I reached seventh grade, I learned they had powerful meanings. Dr. Seuss is more than nonsense words and rhyming. Dr. Seuss targets issues like: pollution, environmental issues, big business, communism, dictatorships, cold war, racism, segregation, discrimination, responsibility, and a child’s imagination being squelched by adults. Three of his most prominent books are The Lorax, Horton Hatches the Egg, and The Sneetches.
This essay will analyze how the work of Chuck Close greatly influenced me in relation to my drawing as I was inspired by the expressive nature of the fingerprint portraits. Also, how exploring Close’s artworks and underlying meaning of his works caused me to question the meaning I wanted to portray in my drawing which therefore caused me to come up with my final theme that is Surplus of Individuals, Scarcity of Presence. Chuck close believes that the human face is a symbol for the roadmap of a person’s life as it tells the journey that one has been on. Close suffers from a condition known as face blindness- this causes him to forget the faces he has seen unless they are in a two dimensional form; this is one of his main influences for making portraits as it enables him to remember the faces of the most
