The article “How Junk Food Can End Obesity” by David H. Freedman makes the claim that eating junk food, or processed food, can make us all healthier. Freedman gives many examples of how some fast-food places have healthier food than a restaurant who specializes in “wholesome” food does, yet many people still think processed food is the problem. Freedman makes different claims in his article and one of his claims is a claim of policy because while he does not want everybody to just stop eating junk food completely, he does want them to make small changes in their diets that way the processed food industry will change the way they make their food. Freedman gives results of research or studies that have been done that show that processed food is not at fault for the obesity rate increasing, he uses this as his warrant, also even though people like Michael Pollan and even the media say that processed food is …show more content…

Bodegas are convenience stores that are considered to be a part of the low-income food-desert landscape and Freedman says in his article that in most of the ones that he went to they sold the same thing, which was a lot of processed snacks, fatty foods, and beverages full of sugar, however, he did find one bodega that was redesigned to have healthier choices (Freedman). According to Freedman, the store was cleaner and brighter and had all the fresh produce near the entrance while all the junk food was in a darker part of the store near the back, the only problem with this store was that it was completely empty except for one worker and Freedman himself (Freedman). Even when another customer walked into the store, instead of buying the produce that was near the entrance, she went straight to the junk food aisle and got cupcakes, paid, then left, she did not even stop to look at the produce
