One such film is Serpico, which is based off of the life of NYPD Officer Frank Serpico. The movie shows the issues of police corruption, and how the police subculture works to keep it covered. Critique of Marie Ingabire’s “The Struggle of Being a Woman in Police Services” In Marie Ingabire’s paper “The Struggle of Being a Woman in Police Services”, they examine Elizabeth McSheffrey’s article “Inquest into death of Vancouver police officer Nicole Chan…”. Inagabire discusses Nicole Chan’s devastating suicide and how the discrimination she faced as a woman in policing led up to the tragedy. They focus on issues of discrimination and harassment in the workplace. It was concluded that discrimination against women would always be a recurring issue within the police force.
Rampart, a movie released in 2011, was set in Los Angeles in 1999. Dave Brown was an L.A.P.D veteran police officer working for the Rampart Division. Brown is a corrupt police officer, who is racist, violent, and self-centered. Many suspicious events involving Brown happen and the department gets put into a corruption scandal and everyone is pointing the finger at Brown. The first incident of corruption I noticed in the movie was when Officer Brown physically abused a suspect.
The administration in the story is dishonest and unconcerned with the concerns of the underprivileged areas. The police are violent and utilize force to maintain public order. This serves as a sharp reminder of the current instances of police brutality and excessive use of force against individuals of color. Black individuals continue to be disproportionately impacted by police brutality and are more likely to become its victims. The connection of racism, classism, and sexism is also explored in the book.

But definitely there are always rotten apples, rotten barrels and even rotten orchards in police that ruin it for everyone else. The last to present his ideas of the three, Thrasymachus argues that justice is the interest of the strongest party, and that the weak can do right by serving the interest of said party. To begin the essay, it is best to look at the general concept of women policing according to an article called Policing Women/Top Cops/Triumph of Spirit, the history and current status of women in law enforcement is a topic of interest for women who wish to enter the profession (Rienerth, 2001). It through this article, that women were first used in the criminal justice system in the 1800s to deal with female prisoners as they were matrons in jails and prisons (Rienerth, 2001). Early female police officers often came from the ranks of social work and were located in separate department, had separate outfits, pay scales and duties from the male officers (Rienerth, 2001). These barriers have caused female police officers to resign from their positions to avoid any issues and because gender discrimination and the other complaints aren’t taken seriously in Law enforcement. By the females constantly compared to the male police officers has caused stress on them. It’s much harder for woman to advance in Law enforcement than men and when interviewers make their decisions they are more than likely choose men over women. It is important to think critically when dealing with the barriers discussed above because it can be challenging and cause someone to give up and quit.

During my discovery of this movie, I found that colors told the story just as much as the dialogue. It just goes to show that the most significant films cover all the ends of telling a story through the medium of film. Now the fun part, the analyst of The Shawshank Redemption’s use of light and color in painting the picture of its theme of hope.
