In the United States of America, as of September 2016, there are 323 million people. Of these people 73% belong to whites, 12.6% are African American, 5.1% come from Asia, and 0.8% are descendants of the Indian natives. A year later, (September, 2017) new surveys were taken and the population was counted for 327 million people, coming from backgrounds of refugees or you being born here. Humans play a role in fighting and keeping the nation free from others, by protecting who they love, and honoring those who have died for this county making it stronger. Humans help make and keep their new and old home successful and strong by maintaining their roles as citizens.

In the story "Raymond's Run", written by Toni Cade Bambara, Squeaky, Raymond's sister, wants to protect Raymond from any harm from bystanders who want to push him around. "You got anything to say to my brother, you say it to me..."(Page 2). Squeaky said this to people who were trying to pick on Raymond. She is protecting Raymond from people who want to discourage him and make him think less of himself. " …show more content…

Pluralistic is defined in this story as many different ethnicities, so the United Stated has one of the most diverse populations and everyone works together moving forward. " Other countries with such divisions have in fact divided into new nations with new names, but not this one, impossibly interwoven even in its hostilities (lines 47)." Other nations have fallen apart while the United States have stayed together, because the people who are from other countries follow the rules and learn their roles and do their part in society, such as your job to support the army or navy. Other nations fall apart, because they fight and not everyone maintains their roles to keep the nation running
