The US has been faced with many obstacles which has made us less united than ever. History has shown that America is stronger when we are united. America is made out of different cultures and beliefs and that is what makes us united. When we are afraid of each other we hurt each other by using violence or going into a war. War makes us separated and weak, but after war it is amazing how cultures can unite again. The United States has to agree to disagree to be united as one. In the fairytale, the parents are so scared of people of color that they put up barbed wire, but that caused more danger to them than the people of color. The text, Once Upon a Time,” states, “ every night, because if the house was surely secure, once locked and with the alarm set, someone might still be able to climb over the wall or the electronically closed gates into the garden.” This states how the parents took several precautions to ensure that colored people stayed as far away as possible. To add on, the text states, “ the shining coiled tunnel was just wide enough for his little body to creep in, and with the first fixing of its razor- teeth in his knees and hands and head he screamed and struggled deeper into its tangle.” This explains how their fear was a bigger threat to them. Today, some people are afraid of and are opposed to people immigrating from certain countries because they pose a terrorism threat to the U.S., this makes both the citizens and immigrants afraid because the immigrants feel unsafe, criticized, and not welcome and the citizens also feel unsafe, this is separating the U.S. onto two opposite sides.
