1. History Sunward is run by two siblings from Taiwan: Managing director Jung Jiunn Der and his sister, general manager Jun Yi Huey. Their father left Taiwanese Pharmaceutical Company to invest in Singapore and Malaysia and that is when Sunward Pharmaceutical started. At that time the siblings joined the company, the company was making less than $3 million in Turnover. Today, Sunward’s turnover is well over $10 million, and it has over 300 employees across three countries. Sunward is also the only Pharmaceutical manufacturing SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) to be ranked in Singapore’s top 500. Being in Singapore has its limitations. Sunward Began exporting its products relatively late – in 1995 – Singapore’s population is currently “limiting the growth” of …show more content…
To effect even distribution of API throughout blend, especially low drug load 5. To eliminate dust handling hazards or losses by densifying the blend 6. To increase bulk density for storage, hence reducing caking and lump formation 7. To formulate for controlled release There are 2 types of Granulation, wet and dry granulation. Dry Granulation To induce plastic deformation of powder to facilitate bonding into a compact for subsequent milling into granules. Powder particles are aggregated using compaction, under high pressure: – Slugging, by which a large tablet, known as a ‘slug’, is produced in a heavy‐ duty tableting press A subsequent milling step that breaks down the compacted particles into granules of the desired size. Does not use moisture or heat to process powders into densified granules Particle Re-Arrangement: When compaction force is initially applied, particles begin filling void spaces, Air begins to leave the powder blend’s interstitial spaces, Particles begin to move closer together; re‐arrangement will continue until there is insufficient volume to allow the particles to move, Powder blend density increase. Particle shape and size are key factors in the re‐arrangement
