In this first milestone we will be taking a look at some important strategic goals while working in a HR department. Things like talent acquisition, employee engagement, retentions, learning and develop and then finally, total rewards. Each of these aspects is a key part in keeping the company staffed and employees happy. Talent Acquisition: Determine appropriate strategies for acquiring qualified talent and explain how the strategies support organizational goals. "Many employers offer a job posting system as a way to encourage employees to identify internal promotional opportunities and to respond to those for which they have skills and interest" (SHRM.org). Some benefits to the job posting system is that it can give employees access to see what jobs internally are being sought after and perhaps this will encourage them to move up in the company. Another great advantage to this strategy would be that is creates transparency for the company. A strong program on where employees can learn and grown is only a benefit to a company. Some learning strategies like OJT (On the Job Training). "OJT refers to new or inexperienced employees learning through observing peers or managers performing the job and trying to imitate their behavior" (Hollenbreck, Noe, Gerhart). This method on learning and development will really help any new employee with their new roles. Not only does it help new employees it can help existing employees with cross over positions and helping employees orientate to new departments. Besides just on the job training it is also important to have a whole host of things and ideas to stimulate learning and development. I guess this would go under the definition of blending learning. This takes e-learning and combines this with face to face instructions. This could be very effective. Other items to explore is apprenticeships and as discussed earlier with colleges and universities, internships are always integral to a strong development program.
