Overview
A successful school environment requires that a culture of collaboration exists within the school community with the business partners and the community. A collaborative culture is helpful in improving student learning as it is a source of a large pool of resources and ideas that ensure student learning (Berry, Daughtrey & Wieder, 2009). There need to be clearly identified objectives and a shared vision to help ensure that any form of a partnership formed is stable. Successful partnerships and effective collaborations within the school community also contribute to continuous professional development.

However, making a PLC work has not been easy and requires full commitment from teacher members involved. A PLC group has improved collaboration within the school community by creating a forum whose objectives are directed towards professional excellence, hence improved student learning.
Strategy 2: Establishing a shared vision
A teacher leader can promote a sense of collaboration by identifying and setting a shared vision. In my department, one of the objectives towards the shared vision of education equality is to promote student learning through ensuring availability of reading the material and through quality teaching. Creating a shared vision allows teachers to be vested towards the outcomes of the students which facilitate collaboration.
Strategy 3: Promote discussion and dialogue
Any relationship within a school community requires that there exists a form of dialogue. Teacher discussion and dialogue should be majorly focused towards the student learning process. Berry et al. (2008), state that establishing both vertical and horizontal collaborations through teacher dialogue and discussion helps bridge effective teaching gap.
