Introduction:
As Assistant Principal of Victor Harbor High School, I have had the opportunity to establish a vision and an improvement agenda for VHHS in the areas of Numeracy, Literacy and ICT, and have been working to implement that agenda. Our school has a positive culture, with staff and student well-being high on our agenda. In 2018 my big rocks on the Site Improvement Strategy (SIS) are Feedback and Literacy, whilst Innovation remains a key focus area.

As a member of the Leadership Executive Team for 7 years, I enjoy the robust discussion of our group and have always supported the united vision we share with staff. Educational research clearly indicates that the most significant factor in achieving this outcome is the quality of the teaching and the relationship between the teacher and the student. The second greatest factor, however, is the quality and effectiveness of the leadership. This is a personal challenge for me every day.

Curriculum Development: I am a passionate teacher and have always used this as a way to engage students and build credibility with staff and parents. In my 16 years at VHHS I have taught a range of subjects and worked closely with the numeracy and literacy capabilities with learning area leaders in the development of curriculum and pedagogy. I run a blended classroom; engage the use of ICT resources to improve learning outcomes for students (refer to student feedback in resume). The process of modelling innovative practice for teachers is an effective way as a leader to promote good practice.
