Education is one of the most challenging fields to work in, but when done effectively, has the most powerful impact. An educator needs to be dedicated, driven and resilient. Having worked at a school in special measures, then being a part of the journey to outstanding, I have been equipped with the skillset to make an exceptional leader who will continue to foster the school’s vision for excellence.

I graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Education specifically focused on schools with high levels of deprivation. I began my profession working in inner city London schools across a diverse range of boroughs. I commenced employment at Whitmore Primary School in 2006 and having researched the school, knew I was faced with a challenge. I am committed to these roles and their impact on closing attainment gaps and raising standards. Through these roles, I facilitate outstanding teaching and astutely plan for modelling, reviewing and monitoring of these subjects to measure impact. The key to success in these groups is prioritising teacher education, and I firmly believe that teachers and support staff need ongoing quality professional development. This results in educators teaching with confidence and purpose, having the greatest impact on the children. Therefore, my leadership time is dedicated to modelling outstanding practice, providing staff trainings, both group and individual, and developing resources to support teaching strategies. Working with teachers daily ensures accountability for my role and the teachers’ commitment to outstanding teaching. The impact of my modelling time this year has resulted in 80% of teachers teaching outstanding reading lessons and 20% of teachers teaching with outstanding
