It is easy to see, that in the past the brigade was exemplary. It was mission focused and the soldiers were dedicated to the mission of this organization. Most importantly, the soldiers of the 4th ABCT could solve problems that came up and were impowered to do so at the lowest level.
The Western High Case Study is an inclusive document that includes a detailed school wide improvement plan. This artifact shows my mastery of Specialty Standard 1. Specialty Standard 1 requires an educational leader collaborate and facilitate a unified school vision. In the case study, extensive detail to methods of information gathering were mentioned. From quantitative data collected from state and federal databases to qualitative responses from the community, this case study showcases my understand of collaboration.

The role of a principal has transitioned from a hierarchical system, in which the principal is the educational expert, to a shared instructional leadership role that encourages collaboration between the administration and teachers as well as between teachers and their colleagues (Marks & Printy, 2003). “Shared instructional leadership involves the active collaboration of principal and teachers on curriculum, instruction, and assessment,” (Marks & Printy, 2003, p. 371). With this approach, the responsibility for curriculum development as well as professional development and supervision of classroom instruction is shared, fundamentally changing structure and culture within the school.
The American Hospital Association's (AHA) Vision statement says that "The AHA vision of a society of healthy communities, where all individuals reach their highest potential for health. " Its mission is "To advance the health of individuals and communities. The AHA leads, represents and serves hospitals, health systems, and other related organizations that are accountable to the community and committed to health improvement" (aha.org, 2016). The rights that are emphasized in the AHA's "Patient Care Partnership" are the full expectation that patients should experience during their hospital stay.
Educational research clearly indicates that the most significant factor in achieving this outcome is the quality of the teaching and the relationship between the teacher and the student. The second greatest factor, however, is the quality and effectiveness of the leadership. This is a personal challenge for me every day. Curriculum Development: I am a passionate teacher and have always used this as a way to engage students and build credibility with staff and parents. When teachers can work closely with their administration, it helps to create a cohesive environment for all that work there. EDUC 502 Foundations and Psychology of Educational Leadership gave me a new insight into the field of administration and their workings. I learned the perspective of administration and working collaboratively with them to improve students’ learning. During this course I learned how to seek and build partnerships with the community which is a huge portion of goal 5. I was introduced to fundamental principles within administrative theories, including organizational, leadership, content, change, and process theories.

When I decided to train to become a professional school counselor, I knew I had a long road ahead. I am trained to be a teacher, a special education teacher to be specific, and though I will be able to use much of my past experience as a classroom teacher in my school counseling practice, I am aware that I will also need to see my students in a new way, a more holistic way. I will need to focus not only on what works in the classroom, but what works in order to motivate and support the students with whom I meet. It is essential for me to determine what will drive me, inspire me to be the best school counselor for both my school and students, therefore, I must determine my professional philosophy of education and school counseling and develop my beliefs, vision and mission statements.
