Throughout my school placement, I have found that fairness and justice are two most important components for being a teacher. Teachers at school treated everyone in an equally, respectful manner without playing favourites, as children can pick up on this quickly. For example, students start to feel devalued when teachers give certain students a higher expectation then others. I also found that teachers do not pick up the strengths and weaknesses of individuals; instead they focus on how to support them. Every child comes to school with a unique personality and learning style, therefore I want to be a teacher that respects these differences. This will engage children to participate and stimulate them to explore, which is why I think it plays a significant role in holding children’s attention and developing positive attitude towards learning. I was more engaged in my learning when my teachers at school were enthusiastic and had a sense of humour. For example, my teachers were energetic towards students, as well as the subject area, and approached teaching with excitement and hope. This made me contribute in class discussions. It was less to do with the teacher’s knowledge and skills and more to do with their attitude towards students. Therefore I want to be a teacher who brings excitement and creativity in the classroom to inspire students to become engaged in their learning. I feel that it is vital to plan creative and engaging lessons to develop a love for learning, which allows them to explore subjects on their own, looking in depth at what their particular interest is. Benefits However it can be challenging enough to get children focused at the beginning of class. As children often drift off when they sit and listen to the teacher for a long time, to overcome this I would use physical movements such as, activities that involves moving around to get children
