Within the Computer tools module, our group was task to perform a quantitative research into the issue of transportation and location affecting NUC students. Hacker (1998) described it as a team with the purpose of a common goal, which requires mutually supporting work and integrative action.
Each person in the team put efforts to achieve the objectives of large group and this role added a new and important dimension to interactions of group members.
The project was completed on scheduled time but not without issues such as effective communication, group development and inactivity.

What was new in the team work process was that some of the team members were hesitant to step forward with ideas about how to proceed with the project. Another …show more content…

At the beginning of the project, group members agreed upon the group objectives and enabled us to make consensus on the aims, and minimised distraction from other issues. Each member was assigned a role based on their preference, which was to avoid role that is not the strength of individual.

During the team first meeting, I observed that we all have different needs in performing the task, as some were good at computer skills, others were good at report writing and others lack the necessary skills to complete the task.

I enjoyed working in the group as it turned out to be another source of collaboration with some of the students. We were able to discuss the topics relating to the course and draw resources together. The group work created a sense of satisfaction and expanded my professional practices. It has enabled me to learn from the mistakes and behaviour and looked at the perspectives of other members in team. It was important for me to build team member relationship with other team fellows. I established a mutual considerate and trust with other team members. On the minus side, some group members in my opinion were not interested in contributing material to support the project. On reflection, the group project encountered many difficulties and challenges as Watson (1995) put forward that team work is not a smooth path but an individualist behaviour, competitive, personality imbalances and philosophical differences that is at risk. I felt frustrated at time but with determination and willingness to complete the project on time at all cost, I accommodated certain behaviours that were beyond my comprehension.
