Each year over 2.8 million people, in the U.S, are dying from being obese or overweight! Which one of the factors that help the obesity epidemic grow is, the combination of no physical activity and technology. Over time the use of technology has increased over the years with how we use it for jobs, getting information, packages, and medicine. More people today now have the internet with how in December 1995 only .4% of the population having the internet, but now in December 2017 54.4% having the internet. Now today most people on earth has either phones or tablets plus we also muse technology for school now. Furthermore, obesity can make people’s chances of getting diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, cerebrovascular disease, and Alzheimer's disease much higher than if someone was a healthy body weight. Which each one these conditions/diseases can kill or disable thousands of people, and technology is only making this issue worse with how it gives people another reason to just sit around. Additionally, Sheri Hosale states, “the more time people are spending engrossed in video games, talking to friends online and watching funny cat videos on YouTube, they are spending less time being active or exercising”. (“25 Negative Effects of Technology”, by Sheri Hosale) This quote shows that people are starting to catch on how technology is helping the obesity epidemic spread, and how now of a day's people aren't getting much physical activity which the results in people being obese or overweight. Overall technology is in a way promoting obesity, and obesity doesn’t benefit humanity, it will only lead to people dying or getting injured at the
