All those 1,728 people who are murdered daily all have a story behind why their lives ended, and a numerous number of cases remain unsolved. Psychologists all over the world have tried to pick the brains of these gruesome criminals and fathom why they have committed horrific crimes. The majority of homicides don’t tend to receive a great deal of media coverage. However, some cases that truly stun people, for example, Ted Bundy, will go famous worldwide. Bundy had grown a temper from a young age and began killing animals often, which is commonly seen as a sign of violent behavior. In the article Inside Ted Bundy’s Troubled and Disturbing Childhood, Ted Bundy’s family shares deranged stories about him. “Bundy’s behavior could be disturbing”. On at least one occasion, his aunt woke up to find her toddler nephew placing knives near her sleeping form,” (Piccoti 1). Bundy exhibited behavior that should have been a warning sign to his parents from an early age. You could assume that Bundy was just born evil, but what if one of his domestic disputes from his early years shaped him into a cold-hearted murderer? Ted Bundy’s splurge of murders is much more complicated than his issues growing up or his social life. Ivy Lattimer struggles with an identity crisis in The Book of Ivy. While being forced to marry the son of her rival family, she somehow finds comfort in being with Bishop. Ivy starts to get tangled up in the agreement to kill Bishop that she made to her family to avenge her mother's death and lift her family back up into the power of Westfall. These kind of murderers put all kinds of questions in people’s minds. “Is my husband capable of murdering me?” Some may say. Chris Watts murdered Shannan Watts and her unborn baby, along with his two daughters Bella Watts and Celeste Watts. He heartlessly strangled his wife in front of his daughters before smothering both of his daughters to death. He then proceeded to dump his daughters in an oil tank while burying Shannan in a field nearby. When convicted of the killings of his family, he claims Shannan was crazy and threatened to kill the children although a few years later he admitted to lying in his confession. “But in 2019, Chris' story changed again. In a letter, he confessed the killings were premeditated, rather than committed in a fit of rage as he had previously claimed. He said he attempted to cause Shanan to miscarry by slipping her oxycodone, as he thought it would make it easier to leave her,” (Leishman 1). Chris’s pathological lying tendencies prove that he was capable of hiding his homicidal thoughts from his family, until he finally broke. People who commit savage crimes such as these murders prove that you can’t just know if people are good and evil, even if you believe you know everything about them. Ivy makes a final sacrifice that verifies that she has a good heart. Ivy pleads guilty to the treason charges that she had a plan to kill Bishop.
