Has someone ever done something way nicer to another person than they deserved? Well that is what Mrs. Jones did to Roger a poor boy who tried to take her purse one night and instead of taking the boy to the police she gave him food and some money. This story is called “Thank you Ma’am” by Langston Hughes it teaches people how everyone should have forgiveness and compassion for other people even though they don’t deserve it.

In this story there are several lessons we should use in our everyday life like when Mrs. Jones took the Rodger home with her to right after Rodger tried to steal her purse. She forgave the little boy and she showed several acts of love by letting him clean up his face,making dinner for him, and giving him money for new shoes just because she felt bad for him and she cared that much about him. The real reason what we should take away from this story is that she never met the boy ever and she did all of this kindness for him. She said to the boy “ If you think that contact is not going to last awhile, you got another thought coming. When I get through with you, sir, you are going to remember Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones.” This quote shows us that she is telling the boy that she will make sure he remembers her because of what she is going to do for him. …show more content…

When he gets there she tells him to go wash his face because the were going to have dinner he had a chance where he could've ran but he didn’t he trusted the women. When they were finished eating she gave him money for new shoes, walked him out of the house and never saw her again. All did for her was that he offered to go get some errands for her and when he left he said thank you and never saw her
