Child obesity has been a big topic of issue for several years now. So big that Mrs. Obama, the former First Lady, made her entire campaign about trying to solve the problem. The U.S. has made recent changes to school food policies to try and solve the problem, but many schools can't even keep selling the healthier food. While most parents like and have wanted the changes to healthy snacks, many students even ones that are done with highschool are complaining about losing these foods. Even though selling junk food brings in more profit for schools, junk food should be removed from schools. It will help keep students in better shape, helps parents teach students good eating habits, and helps students build healthy lifestyles.

Kelsey Sheely, of U.S.News, wrote an article that speaks about how some schools are taking junk food out of the meal and food options. Most of the parents and a lot of the students have spoken out in support of these changes. If we take junk food out of the equation, would kids even think about wanting to eat unhealthy food. If they forget altogether about junk food it might become a habit just to not eat or eat less junk food. National Institutes of Health published an article speaking about how ⅓ of the adults in America are obese, junk food is a main contributor to obesity, and you develop your normal eating habits at younger ages. This together means that while kids are still in school taking all the unhealthy stuff out of kids’ environments which would change their eating habits to consuming way less junk food.
