Brothers Grimm Rumpelstiltskin Story v. Courage the Cowardly Dog TV Version Book and movies, or TV shows, usually differ in how their story lines go. The shows and movies of a story are usually more fast paced, lacking details. Or, they do not follow the story at all. This show takes the average retelling and turns it on its head, involving characters from the show. The Courage retelling brings sort of a lighter note to the telling of the story. In retrospect, the Brother Grimm story is the original telling of the tale, a more twisted version than ones that are told in children’s storybooks. Now there have been other shows to have made Rumpelstiltskin related episodes, but I find Courage a tad bit more entertaining. The original story began with a poor miller and his daughter. Both of those nights, all had been a bust. But, the third day when the messenger came back, he had no other names. But, when in the woods he saw this small man, singing and dancing around a fire. The small man in his chanting, he had sang about a queen’s child being given to him soon, and said that he was glad that no one could find out his real name. With his stupidity, he, in his chanting, said his name. Upon hearing this, of course the queen was ecstatic. The night had come, and the man had returned for the last time. The woman at first gave him two names that even she knew was wrong. You can think in your mind how excited the man was, thinking how close he was to receiving the child, since no one could find out what his name was. But, the woman had next asked if his name was Rumpelstiltskin. The man, of course, was furious, chanting how the devil had told her. In his childlike fit he, in the end, ripped himself in
