Therefore, Paul offers courage to the believers and the task that encouragement. For in (v.7) Paul expresses having faith in the promises of God and not on what he sees then, he illiterates again in verse 8, about the courage which he has while expressing his desire to be with the Lord. Paul can face the afflictions upon his body by the ministry because he is “confident that God will supply a superior replacement for [his body].” (Barrett 158).
It was a chilly December night. Mr.Clemens is a 72 year old man laying in bed just about to turn in for the night. Walter Cronkite, the murderer, claims he killed the old man to get rid of the “evil eye.” Detectives question him long and hard but get little information.
Reverend Parris is the father of Betty Parris and the Uncle to Abigail Williams. In the opening scene, he catches both girls, including some others dancing in the woods. This was very forbidden during this time because of the threat of witchcraft. The next day Betty starts acting very strange and they start to assume it’s witchcraft. Especially once they question Tituba and she admits to being a witch.
He refers to the Apostle Paul who “carried the gospel of Jesus Christ”, then stated that he was “compelled to carry the gospel of freedom”
Galatians 5:13-25 was meaningful to me because it described what freedom was meant for. We were given the freedom to do whatever we want, but humans often make bad choices. This passage is about how the Holy Spirit can help us resist the temptations of being human beings. This spoke to me because the Holy Spirit is like a helper and supporter in our lives. It guides us when we are lost and as a human, I am often lost and turn to God for help.
Paul wrote the book of Romans and in the 8th chapter, Paul tells the reader that the Holy Spirt has the power to set souls free from sin, and from death. A person must have the mindset of the Holy Spirt to work and believe just what the Holy Spirit can do in one’s life. Paul writes 1 and 2 Corinthians in the first book of Corinthians, Paul tells the reader that each person is given gifts from the Holy Spirit. These gifts are to edify the church to give God the glory in its work. A person will be gifted wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, discerner of the preached word, tongue speaking, and interpretation of these tongues.
In the beginning Abigail, Tituba, and the girls are out in the woods dancing and conjuring spirits. Paris catches them in the woods and accuses them of performing witchcraft. Soon after that a big witchhunt occurs. Soon after, Betty falls ill and the girls all try to get their stories straight. John Proctor and Abigail talk privately about their past love.
Before Act I begins, Arthur Miller gives a brief summary of what was occurring in Salem that lead to the witch trials. He refers to the ideas of taking attendance for church, long-held hatred, and land-lust. In the overture for Act I it states, “walk forth in the time of God’s worship to take notice of such as either lye about the meeting house, without attending to the word and ordinances, or that lye at home or in the fields without giving good account thereof,” (Act I Page 4). This is explaining the idea that people were assigned to make sure that people were attending church and not doing other things with their time. Later on in the play, this gets John Proctor in trouble when he is accused for having contact with the devil because he
Puritans can be executed to death for having connection with the devil through the association of witchcraft . The satan can take possession over the weakest individuals, for example women and children. The opening scene of The Crucible, Arthur Miller creates a scandalous rumor. Betty who is only ten years old was very ill. Parris claim to have seen girls dancing in the forest like pagans, which makes everyone get suspicious and timorous.
In relation to the verse, the Greek shows that believers need to set an example in the way they live and behave. The conduct reflects how the person lives, and Timothy was told to live an exemplary life with his behavior and actions.
Our Journey with God also begins with His Word. If you don’t know The Word, How will we receive all that God has in store for us? The Story of the Woman at the Well – JOHN 4:1-44
It is often difficult, when reading through the words of the apostle Paul, to distinguish his precise line of reasoning. This is due to a variety of factors, ranging from mere density of language to a lack of proper contextual understanding. This ambiguity is amplified even further, especially in the less known epistles such as the Corinthians and Thessalonians, through the failure of many church bodies and Christian individuals to study the book as a whole. Too often Pastor’s will utilize Paul’s words without a proper understanding of how he using them. This creates a cycle of misunderstanding, confusion, and poor hermeneutics in the church.
It does this by showing that this apostate of a Jew came fully back to the Jewish and received full salvation by partaking in the mosaic covenant. In other word the Apostles and God could use Timothy as a tool for the conversion of the Jew and other gentiles on there evangelization campaign through Asia. It is clear that through the act of becoming one with the culture, Timothy has help the apostles in their efforts to evangelize and unify the people. The reader sees this when it is stated, “the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily.” (Act 16: 5).
This later Epistle of John is an echo of the Gospel testimony, offering the community a glimpse of the perfection achievable in discipleship, seeking to morally build up the community then and now to righteousness as Paul states in 2 Timothy 3: 16-17
Paul’s pneumatology found in his writings has been a matter of interest in recent New Testament scholarship. Gordon Fee has been a great contributor in this area and in Paul, the Spirit and the People of God he outlines the various elements found in Pauline pneumatology giving us greater insight into this subject. In this paper I will highlight some of these elements that are unique to Paul and are not found in the Synoptic Gospels and Acts. The first distinctive of Pauline pneumatology is the way he sees the Spirit as God’s personal presence. For Paul, the coming of the Spirit meant that God had fulfilled the promises He had made to Jeremiah and Ezekiel when He said, ‘I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel’ (Jer. 31:31), and
