To fully understand the reasons behind a man’s commitment to a cult, and the choice to lead and continue the unorthodox cult sect, it is important to look at his upbringing. Warren Jeff’s was born on December 4th, 1955 as the 14th child of Rulon Jeffs, the prophet before his son took over. Polygomy within this sect began before Warren’s reign, as Rulon, his father, was said to have about 20 wives and 60 children. With so many wives and children, it is unusual for the 14th to take over such a task as taking over the religious sect. However, Warren Jeffs was born three months premature, and therefore was seen as a miracle child to his father, thus beginning a strong relationship between Warren Jeffs and his father Rulon.
A cult is a system of religious belief and devotion directed towards a particular object. The Branch davidians are a group of people that is devoted to one particular person and Religion. David Koresh is the main leader of the group and is located in Waco Texas. In the documentary Waco The Inside Story the police went to talk to the group due to safety issues regarding the children. The group had many weapons and ammunition located where they were living.

Moore seems to be a sympathizer of the Jim Jones and the members of The Peoples Temple. In the book Moore seems to have a reoccurring theme of wanting people to understand the members of The Peoples Temple. She does cover all the factual information but then leads the reader to her opinions about cults, religion and the media coverage of Jonestown.
Sookan changes in many ways throughout the book, Year of Impossible Goodbyes, when faced with the following situations: when grandfather dies, when mother gets held back and Sookan and Inchun have to move on, and finally when Sookan and Inchun cross the border to get to the South. After grandfather passed away, Sookan and her family became very sick and depressed. This changed Sookan because grandfather had always been her number one supporter and was her role model. Sookan stayed calm and knew that he was always there for her, she also feels better because when she held his hand, she felt a little Buddha go into her and it made her feel and calm "Slowly, a feeling of calmness came over me.
Through partaking in interaction rituals, individuals become members of something greater than themselves. This feeling of being apart of something greater than oneself provides a moral community for the individuals, which then guides individuals in their beliefs and behaviors. It is similar to a never-ending circle; as individuals see the emotionally charged environment that this religion provides, they want to be a part of it, so they partake in unusual rituals, which furthers their engagement and emotional connectedness to their community. It almost reminds me a bit of an addiction. This community turns objects, such as poison and snakes as sacred, which in turn creates a sacred and profane world.

The cult of Isis originated at the time of the Egyptian Old Kingdom. From this time until her acceptance in Rome, the influence of Isis and her meaning changed and grew. During Egypt’s Old Kingdom, Isis’ role was a funerary one. She had a relatively small amount of influence in Egyptian religion, garnering most of what she had from her husband Osiris, god of the dead. Worship of Isis was constricted to funerary rituals.
In the videos “Beware online “filter bubble”” by Eli Pariser and “Tracking our online tracker” by Gary Kovacs, both of them were talk about the similar thing that is tracking. In Eli Pariser’s video, he said that the internet are tracking our online hobbit and deciding what information we can see. In Gary Kovacs, he said that we don’t have the privacy on internet. In my experience, I know that online are tracking me every day. It decide what advertise I can see, for example when my mom and I went to the same website, the advertises on her page are about clothes but on my page is about travel, school, etc.

The article attempts to inform the reader about what the inner workings of a sociopath is. The article begins with a description of being a sociopath furthermore, it talks about her childhood being rather “normal” not having any abusive parents rather a narcissist whom she actively shames. The irony of this situation is throughout the article she brags about herself with no sense of her hypocrisy she seems to be unable to recognize her similarities with her family as she casts them out
