There once was a farmer who had a very strong, sturdy, and beautiful ox. The ox was very lean and had a beautiful—brown, shiny coat. He had helped the farmer for many years; plowing fields, removing tree stumps, and spreading manure over the crops. The ox was born on the farm and had been with the farmer all his life. The ox was starting to get up in age and the farmer realized that he would soon have to make a decision regarding processing the ox for meat to feed his family. The farmer could not afford to continue taking care of the ox unless he earned his keep. Fearing for his death, the ox realized there was something else he could be a “town-musician”. The ox would play the drum. He thought he would be a great drummer since he had hooves. The greyhound would play a tambourine. He didn’t know why he wanted to play a tambourine, other than he thought it would be a fun instrument to play. The chicken would sing beautiful songs. She thought that she would be able to carry a tune with her voice.
They had been on the run for some time and were starting to get hungry. It was starting to get dark and they knew they needed to find a place to rest for the night. They started walking down the road and came upon a field of corn. The three of them decided to eat the corn and make beds from the corn stocks in the field.
The next day with the sunrise there came a truck down the road. The noise of the truck awoke them. The driver of the truck saw the animals in the corn field and thought, “they must have escaped from the zoo.” The driver stopped and loaded the animals in the truck. The driver just knew these were the animals that had escaped from the petting zoo a few days ago. The name on the side of the truck read, “Paradise Petting Zoo.” The petting zoo was located in Paradise Island,
