Daniel Aguirre Ms. Tobias English III GT - 6th 12 January 2017 After analyzing both the movie and the novel, I have discovered similarities and differences. Ill try to compare and contrast the two since the movie does not depict the story exactly as how the novel does. Similarities There were still some similarities in the film that tied back to the book. One of the main ones is when Nick walks to Gatsby’s backyard and finds him standing at the edge of his dock reaching out to what was a green light.
During the middle of the book, Gatsby invites Daisy to a party with her husband Tom and that holds up a whole fiasco. Tom kind of knew that they were hinting at something because they were looking each other in the eyes and noticing just them and not anyone else (Fitzgerald 75). As they were all huddled at the party Daisy and Gatsby ran off with the help of Nick. So Nick at this point is the leading cause of why Gatsby was killed.
Casandra Salazar Ms. Tobias English III GT 12 January 2017 The Great Gatsby After reading and watching The Great Gatsby, I gathered the dissemblance and alikeness in both the book and motion picture. As written in “The Great Gatsby”, the first example of similarity is that the book has the same theme to the “Roaring 20’s”. In the written book, Fitzgerald described the parties as huge and dramatic, where as in the movie, the directors did a fantastic job translating Fitzgerald’s words into a lavish visual spectacle of booze, sequins, and confetti.
The Great Gatsby, a classic novel, was made into a movie in 1974 and again in 2013. The movies are very different and very similar. The directors of both movies kept the plot the same as best as they could and changed some scenes. The director of the 2013 movie tried to make the movie seem modern but still old. The director of the 1974 kept the movie old with older music.
The Great Gatsby There are two The Great Gatsby movies out their, the 1974 movie directed by Jack Clayton, and the 2013 movie directed by Baz Luhrmann. The novel was originally written in 1925, by author F. Scott Fitzgerald. And wasn 't actually noticed as a great book until he was already passed away. If I were to have to say which movie F. Scott Fitzgerald would prefer more, I would say the 2013 film. I believe the scenes showed in the 2013 movie, directed by Baz Luhrmann, would be more appreciated by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The Great Gatsby is a biography of what Gatsby’s life was to the narrator, Nick Carraway. Nick is almost as mysterious as Gatsby. The reader only knows that he is from the Midwest, just like Gatsby, and because of this, he feels like he is the only one who understands Gatsby. Nick is intoxicated in many of his narrations and is extremely biased in favor of Gatsby and against Tom Buchanan. Also, in the scene of Gatsby’s death, Nick only considers his feelings and nothing
Soon Gatsby and nick became friends that would meet everyday and talk. At one point Gatsby and daisy sneak off without anyone noticing. Soon daisy and the Gatsby fall for each other but her husband tom kind of figured out what was going on between them. After spending a night with that Gatsby they all return home to see that their home has been flipped upside down by gang members looking for cigarettes and money, daisy and tom get worried that maybe they weren't just looking for that so they leave on a “vacation”. Later on the gatsbys brother was killed and his father was trying to figure out where to bury him and Gatsby said up east because that was where they had the best memories.at the funeral there were only a few people who attended.
In the book, The Great Gatsby, my favorite character is Nick Carraway. He is my favorite because he is honest, and kind to everyone. He had a lot of hope for Daisy, he also kept secrets. In the movie when Daisy was driving Gatsby’s car and hit Myrtle he didn’t say anything to Tom. Nick was also true to Jay Gatsby through the whole book and the movie.
William Hartford Ms. Hyde Period 5 1/11/22 Gatsby Review In this review, I will be comparing characters from the 1974 and 2013 “The Great Gatsby” movies and how they portrayed the characters from the book. The 1974 movie and the 2013 movie depict the very famous book called “The Great Gatsby” with very different approaches. Both these movies had major differences and color, scenery, acting, and much more. The character Nick, Gatsby, and Daisy are all played by very different actors and show a wide variety of emotions through their acting.
The Great Gatsby Review The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays itself to be prominent in English literature while entailing various American ideals like the American dream. The adaptation of The Great Gatsby as a movie is quite accurate to the book and follows the plot along with these ideologies. Although at times the movie extends the plot or adds additional details, the additions are justified and contextually relevant. For example, the movie spoke more of Dan Cody and how Gatsby got “Old sport” through his mentor. The visual display of the book was unexpectedly detailed and cinematic, the selection for actors to play certain characters was quite exquisite, and the music was greatly done.
Chapter2 The Novel or the Film? Besides the decline of the American dream and the Coexistence of good and evil, do these films, The Great Gatsby and To Kill A Mocking Bird, have something else in common? They were novels first.
I. Introduction/ Narration A. Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby (2013) was the version, out of the two given, which had the best impact on me regarding formatting towards the original (does not work because the other one is not supposed to be like the original). The presentation within this movie was simply grand. Extravagant scenes from Gatsby's towering mansion to the chaotic parties within, to the slums of the City of Ashes, which, even in there negative form, also seemed grand in an impressive imposing.
The entire plot of the movie “The Great Gatsby,” directed by Baz Luhrmann, is pretty much very accurate to the novel of the same name written by author F. Scott Fitzgerald. They both center around a man named Jay Gatsby who throws extravagant parties in hope that one day his love Daisy will wander in. Of course like all movies that are based off of books they all have their similarities and differences. Whether they be very small or very noticeable, sometimes even changing the entire story completely, they are still there. Sometimes the purpose of this could be that the director wants to add their own little twist to the story or it could be that they are going for a much deeper meaning or symbolism.
There are several instances where deception creates a false sense of reality in both the book and movie. Fitzgerald writes his book in first person with Nick Carraway as the narrator. The book presents Nick as garrulous. Therefore, the reader sometimes would detect uncertainty since the entire story is told by Nick. However, in the novel, Nick states "I am one of the few honest people I have ever known" (Fitzgerald 63).
Evidence of this can be found at the end of the story in both novel and film when Nick becomes overwhelmed and surprised with the outcome of Gatsby’s fate and how disgusted he is with people, that
