The Hunger Games and The Goonies The Hunger Games and The Goonies are alike and different in many ways in their approach to The Hero's Journey. The Call to Adventure, The Mentor Helper, and Ordeal have a number of similarities and differences. Each show how The Hero's Journey can be told in different texts and stories. In The Call to Adventure in The Hero's Journey there are many similarities and differences between The Hunger Games and The Goonies. In The Goonies, Mikey finds a treasure map in the attic and Brandon tries to stop him from thinking he can make the adventure. Although in The Hunger Games, no one stops Katniss’s decision from taking Prim’s place in the drawing. In The Goonies, Brandon and Mikey’s friends are trying to influence Mikey not to go on the adventure. In The Hunger, Games Katniss takes Prim’s place without thinking and also without influence. One similarity between The Hunger Games and The Goonies, is the enemy is met at the beginning and then fought with at the end. In The Hunger Games, Cato was first introduced in the training center, then Katniss and Peeta fought him at the end. In The Goonies they met the Fratellis at the beginning in the restaurant, and even though the Fratellis chased The Goonies throughout the whole movie they only met up in the end. Another similarity between The Hunger Games and The Goonies is that the enemys both wanted the same thing, to take the reward from the main character. In The Hunger Games Cato wants the reward of keeping his life, winning The Hunger Games and killling Katniss and Peeta. In The Goonies, the Fratellis want the reward of taking the treasure.
