The first time I heard about Americorps, it was my first year as a transfer student at Georgia State University. I had no idea of what the program was and what it consist of. The moment I search and read about the program without doubt I wanted to be a part of. The reason why I would like to join Americorps program because of the purpose it exhibits. Americorps represents the theory of idealism.
Most of the leadership I had to deal with in the Marine Corps. was the same way Rochard Fuld used to control his followers. I am blessed I had to deal with that type of disgusting treatment for four years. It has taught me using fear, intimidation and favoritism is never the answer to accomplish the organizations mission. As leaders, we need to treat people how we expect and deserve to be valued. I am appalled that your mother had to show up to work in fear, dealing with intimidation.
Everything about a Marine can be tied to a tradition, from uniforms worn to the ceremonies conducted. Marines are also known for their extremely strict discipline, and adherence to orders. What should be done if a tradition breaches a Marine Corps order, or regulation? Traditional Marines, important orders and the prevention of hazing all ascertain that Marine Corps orders and regulations must take precedence over practiced traditions. Retired Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermey once said, “Without discipline, there is no Marine Corps.”
Importance of Rank Structure “Military ranks are a system of hierarchical relationships in armed forces, police, intelligence agencies or other institutions organized along military lines. Military ranks and the military rank system define among others dominance, authority, as well as roles and responsibility in a military hierarchy. The military rank system incorporates the principles of exercising power and authority, and the military chain of command – the succession of commanders superior to subordinates through which command is exercised – constructs an important component for organized collective action.”
I've attended the ball numerous times some while on active duty, at times with dates, at times with friends, but today it is with someone special. Today, November 10th, is the 240th Birthday of the United States Marine Corps (USMC), and I am anxious. I've been planning this for weeks, and two days ago I visited my favorite spa at Nordstroms in preparations for today. I had a full body depilation, and a body wrap as well. This morning I returned for a french manicure/pedicure, and deep tissue massage.
In the Marine Corps, Marines are always receiving praise for all the hard work, dedication, and efforts they put forth in their careers and it never goes unnoticed. Junior Marines today believe that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges, in other words, have a sense of entitlement; which is an issue Marine Non-Commissioned Officers face. They want everything handed to them, and not putting in the required work and earning it themselves and know what self-gratification feels like when accomplishing a task. Due to their lack of maturity, their quick rise in rank, and imitation of poor leadership all play a part of junior Marines being entitled. When you think of a United States Marine, you see someone who is professional,
A public service is a service which is provided by government to people living within its jurisdiction. Public services can be described as law enforcement, fire brigades, and a military. Access to these resources can be viewed as a fundamental human right as they all exist for the preservation of life and enforcement of a system of rules. As members of the United States Armed Forces we are obligated to support the interests of the United States and some/all of its citizens. With this responsibility comes a duty to public service.
Now also for accountability in the Marine Corps is one of the highest things that are always being hit on. So in other words, being accountable may mean for you to be at a certain place at whatever time was given for you to be there. Next, another reason why accountability is important is because if you don’t keep track of your gear and you’re missing something when the time comes and you need that piece of gear that you were missing then you would be in a lot of trouble. All together being accountable is; well to the Marine Corps being called mission ready. That is why accountability in the Marine Corps is very or in greater words beyond important.
Introduction The diversity issue I experienced that I feel relate to these theories was Social Identify Theory. “Social identity theory is a cognitive social psychological theory that originated in Europe… It provides the connection between social structures and individual identity through the meanings people attach to their membership in identity groups such as those formed by race, ethnicity, or gender” (Mor Barak, 2014, p. 163).
Marcus Luttrell once said, “Make no mistake marines are ware fighters. I mean they are really good at what they do. The only time they are not good at what they do is when someone puts shackles on them.” My dream is to become a marine, and learn all I can so I can pass my knowledge on to someone else. Marine Corps, The Corps, has been known to be the first to fight and will expand my knowledge about opportunities provided to me through military service.
Eight years ago I walked into a Navy recruiter's office and said, " If I join today, when is the soonest I can go to boot camp? " I did not know what to expect. However I was sure of one thing, and that was that I wanted to join the United States Navy. As those eight years ensued, the Navy began to mold me physically and mentally. Some of the changes I underwent were positive, and others were rather uncouth.
I had my own mission to accomplish. I tied up the laces on my combat boots, and then proceeded to follow the other soldiers in what seemed like a marching band sequence. We all stopped and stood in two single file lines, in front of our squad leader. I could hear the bombs and guns firing not even a mile away from where we were positioned. It wasn’t hard for me to tune out the explosions, as I just turned down the sensitivity on my cochlear implants so I could focus more on my squad
Army Values Essay The Seven Values are Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. The Army Values are important and guide soldiers and leaders to do what is right on a day to day basis within their career. The Army Values are known as the foundation of the army. Even though people know the meaning of these values, not everyone actually lives up to them, but soldiers are taught in Basic Combat Training (BCT) the details of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.
Not committing to the task could potentially suggest that they were incompetent or lack the capacity as a military personnel so facing ‘dangers’ was a much preferred option. Additionally, discipline in the military can be seen when an officer makes his salutes appropriately, their conduct, to the state of their uniform and even how they present themselves in public. While discipline in military is rewarded as it is a sign of respect and duty, misconduct on the other hand is punishable. When discipline is lacking in an army personnel, it not only affects their own performance but also the team as a whole. It is therefore important to instil discipline early and effectively.
Career Paper Earl Nightingale once said, “People with goals, succeed because they know where they 're going. ”1Therefore, without goals a person will lose and not be successful. This paper will discuss career goals, professional aspirations, short term and long term goals and the salary obtained at a given time. I have always wanted to work in the Air Force, whether an officer or enlisted. I was in ROTC; however, I was medically disqualified and could not continue in the program.
