In this article, Command Sgt. Maj. Chris Faris and his wife Lisa Faris talk to an audience about the struggles they endured during their 22 year marriage. During, "The Chris and Lisa Show," they wanted the service members, and their spouses, to know that they are not alone with their marital problems and challenges. The show touched specifically on the issues that may come from not being at home and working long deployments. It is great to see that Command Sergeant Major Chris and his wife Lisa Faris are helping others through their tours, but also through radio as discussed in the podcast.

In David McLeans short story Marine Corps Issue, Jonathan (the protagonist), demonstrates the theme respecting boundaries when he invades his father's privacy after he returns from the war. First, John sees his father go through some boxes that contained military remembrances. that made him drink, leading John to want to go through the boxes (340-341). Second, John steals the military box keys from his father and opens them revealing military remembrance ( 348-350 352-353). Third, John's dad sees him searching through his stuff, leaving him hurt by his son's actions but also causing a greater father and son bond ( 354-355).

In Memories Of an Elite Navy Seal Sniper, the theme Brotherhood and Morality is developed constantly throughout the story. Theme is used by the Author Howard E. Wasdin to allow the reader to relate to the characters and their struggles. Morality is a major theme used by Howard. Howard develops this theme to distinguish between right and wrong or good and bad behavior. Another example he uses is brotherhood.
When I raised my hand, and took my oath of service I had no idea of the journey Leadership Philosophy that laid ahead of me. Joining late in life was one transition, but the transition into the Non-Commission Officer (NCO) Corps, and a leader has been a very rewarding experience. The values that were instilled in me as a child and those that have been drilled into my make-up as an NCO are very similar. The Marine Corps values rank structure and respect to that rank structure even if you are completely in the right to correct or call out a higher rank on something they did wrong it is demanded of you to use the upmost possible tact and respect. From Private to Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps this applies. One saying I learned that comes to mind, in regard to respecting rank structure, “if you respect the man you respect the rank.” I do my best to live by this in the Marine Corps. I believe that myself and for the most part everyone at every rank can have trouble at times remembering our place in the Corps.
A topic that the Marine Corps has been debating for the past decade is whether or not there should be a policy regarding tattoos. It has been a constant struggle to balance the personal desires of the individual Marine and maintain the appearance of professionalism that is expected of the Marine Corps. A tattoo policy definitely needs to be in place in order to maintain a positive perception, sustain good order and discipline, and provide a standard of uniformity. I am always in the Marine Corps JROTC room and it just so happens that inside of there we have air rifles which I would use it to maneuver down the hall to the cafeteria. I would also make sure I bring a couple of kids with me so that we could bring some bins to the cafeteria. I would carefully and quietly enter the cafeteria, ensuring that I do not disturb any of those zombie cafeteria ladies. If I do, I will have my air rifle handy. I would swiftly make my way into the back where all of the food, snacks, and ice.

To comprehend others, one must understand their values. The values that I have lived under for the greater part of my grown-up life have been The Seven Army Values. I joined the United States Army when I was 23 years of age. I had values then, yet the Army Values changed my life and the way I manage things throughout my life. The Seven Army Values comprise of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless-Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.
I believe that leaders in the military and leaders within business oriented organizations exhibit the same traits and qualities because leaders regardless of the situation or context share the same traits. “Trait theories of leadership considers personal qualities and characteristics that differentiate leaders from non-leaders” (Robbins 333). The trait theories of leadership basically indicate that all leaders share the same traits or characteristics. These traits apply to leaders in the military and private sector. Leaders typically have traits such has self-control, decisiveness, and responsibility.
