My career at Flagger Force began on April 12, 2010 at our Harrisburg Branch in Middletown, PA. I arrived an hour early, and upon my arrival I was escorted to Bill McDaniels office and he immediately sent me outside to my car because I was too early and he was busy. At the time, I thought that HE was Mike Doner; I had always worked for “Mom & Pop Shops”, and I remember thinking to myself, “Great, my first day in the office and I already pissed off the owner”. Forty-Five minutes later, Ann Johnson came out to my car, and told me to pull out my vehicle and back it in before “Mike” yelled at me for pulling into the parking space. My first assignment at Flagger Force was pre-screening.
Both agencies begin exploring the deployment of patrol rifles to officers on the street. The MCSD adopted the patrol rifle program following the Jason Baker incident and IPD implemented the patrol rifle program approximately two years later. Jerry Baker, Jason’s father, helped establish the Heroes of Public Safety section at Crown Hill Cemetery and started the annual Beyond the Badge Run in memory of Jason Baker that funds scholarships for persons who wish to enter the field of Public Safety. Leaders of both departments began to rethink the ways critical incidents are dealt with and what can be done to improve the outcomes of these types of incidents.

The first main point would be their focus on the World War II and the Cold War. It plays a huge important part on both of these wars because they were able to help throughout that rough time. Before coming here a was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol for several years, and throughout my time there I was able to observe many different leaders, good and bad. However, one of the squadron commanders still stands out in my mind. His name was Sam, and only fifteen years old when he became the squadron commander. He was perhaps the best leader the squadron had while I was in it. Before he took over the previous commander lacked the motivation to do anything, therefore the squad was in disarray, and no one else had the drive to try to fix the problems that keep arising either.

Since I was ten years old, I have been a member of the Young Marines, a program dedicated to the enrichment of youth. Aside from my family and school, this organization has had an incredible impact on my life, not only providing me with many unique and amazing experiences, but by shaping the foundation of my character by instilling in me the three core principles of the Young Marines: Discipline, Leadership, and Teamwork and also by emphasizing the importance of community service. I have had many amazing and unique experiences as a Young Marine which included the challenges of promotion to become the senior ranking officer, learning many new skills such as CPR, teaching Drug Demand Reduction, leading and mentoring the members of the Unit, going on encampments and traveling. In my sophomore year, my Unit Commander, a Korean War veteran, selected me to travel with him to Seoul. Every few years he chooses a Young Marine to take to South Korea based on merit.

On this our 125th Anniversary, our theme is “looking back, looking ahead, moving forward.” Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
Not committing to the task could potentially suggest that they were incompetent or lack the capacity as a military personnel so facing ‘dangers’ was a much preferred option. Additionally, discipline in the military can be seen when an officer makes his salutes appropriately, their conduct, to the state of their uniform and even how they present themselves in public. While discipline in military is rewarded as it is a sign of respect and duty, misconduct on the other hand is punishable. When discipline is lacking in an army personnel, it not only affects their own performance but also the team as a whole. It is therefore important to instil discipline early and effectively.
