In any organization, a hierarchy of roles and responsibilities must exist in order to augment the corporation’s performance. An organization’s performance is mainly exhibited by its productivity, while effectively using resources. Leadership most definitely plays a vital and influential role, not only in an organization’s performance but also, the productivity of workforces within an organization. This style is also known as the “hands-off” style (Gill 2014). The leader in this case provides the employees with freedom to finish tasks their way, without any or few instructions. Power is in the hands of the employees and they are responsible for their own actions and any and all are made by the employees themselves. In perspective, the fundament of this leadership style is to shape a powerful workforce and let them take over control (Styles of leadership 2009) (Gill 2014).
The Laissez-Faire leadership style is most effective when the employees involved are well experienced, skilful and trustworthy. The employees who take great pride in accomplishing any given task to them. However leadership can sometimes adversely affect the entity. Leadership is a very time consuming process and requires lot of effort and energy of the leader. Sometimes the leader is not able to concentrate on the goals, as he is busy leading the team. It also wastes lot of money of the firm in giving training to the employees etc. We can say that leadership is an expensive process. In order to be successful leader, he or she must choose the best leadership style according to the employees they head and the circumstances.
