1.0 INTRODUCTION

Public relations are very significant in organizations. Public relations can be defined as the management function that establishes and maintains mutually beneficial relationships between an organization and the publics on whom its success or failure depends. (Broom, 2009). Institute of Public Relations, USA stated that public relations is the deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain mutual understanding between an organization and its publics. Edward L. Bernays defined public relation as an attempt by information persuasion and adjustment to engineer public support for an activity, cause, movement or institution, while Herbert M. Baus defined it as a combination of philosophy, sociology, economics, language, psychology, journalism, communication and other knowledge into a system of human understanding.

As stated above, we can infer that public relation is a field that includes all aspect wholly, and its purpose is to have deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationship between an organization or a company with the public. The great relationship between a company and public determine the success or failure of the company itself.
