The Issue Of Lack Of Funding For Education

The essay that I will be writing is going to be about funding for education, specifically in Oklahoma. Lack of funding for education is a problem all over the country, but Oklahoma is interesting in that the state is ranked 48th in education and there could be a correlation between that and the lack of funding. I’m majoring in elementary education, and I would like to be either a first or second grade teacher after college. As a requirement for one of my scholarships I will have to teach in a Title 1 school in Oklahoma for four years, which means that I will be experiencing the results of lack of funding first hand. This issue does not only affect me though, everyone has either been in school or is currently going to school, and in the future maybe have children in school. Education is a basis of everything that helps people gain knowledge, be able to communicate better with others, make a decent living, serve society better, and much more. Education leads to a more productive society, reduces poverty, and increases economic growth. Some questions that I want to answer include: When and how did the decline of funds being used for education begin? How does Oklahoma rank nationally funding wise? How do budget cuts directly affect schools, and the students attending those schools? Even if it’s not specifically going into the paper, it is important that I research the whole picture, like: Why there is a lack of funding and why it has been taken out of education? Who decides what happens to the allocated funds and what are their views on education? Where does the money given to education go? By answering these questions, I should get a good understanding of the overall issue as well as some useful details that will help me write a well informed
