In today’s globalized business environment being able to leverage every resource is expected and required. A company’s core values are akin to an individual’s personal core values. In the same sense that the value is what your friends, family, co-workers, social groups know are important to you and that you hold firm. It is from this core value set that companies derive or extrude their core competencies.
The company’s values are: teamwork, learning, having fun, ethics and integrity, empowerment and accountability, and agility. (Grainger, About Us, 2015) Teamwork refers to trusting others and valuing their teammates and/or customers opinions. The learning value component means to acquire information from both the successes and failures. The company defines the value of having fun by creating a healthy work-life balance and celebrating when appropriate. Ethics and integrity is self-explanatory, being fair and consistent in every encounter.
This culture empowers employees to explore fresh ideas and solutions, instilling a sense of pride and ownership. Moreover, the company's customer-centric approach shapes employees'
If employees are not familiar with the company’s goals and what the company is expect from them they won’t be able to perform good. Successful organizational culture requires a team work. Johnson should establish the espoused values of the company. These are the stated values and norms that are preferred by the company (Kreitner, 2013, p.63). Johnson should set the basic assumption which values employees (Kreitner, 2013, p.65).
Introduction Organizational culture has been defined as the ““the deep, basic assumptions and beliefs that are shared by organizational members,” (Clegg, 208). Organizational culture can be interpreted in many ways, often an organization has multiple cultures. A strong organizational culture, is one in which employees share the same values. At this point you are probably tired of reading about her as I am tired of writing about her but she is the only person I admired in a leadership role and observed effectively lead a team. MGM Resorts International is corporation made up of 15 casinos nationwide. We provide a variety of different services such as gaming, entertainment, hotel reservations, F&B, and hospitality.

The culture can increase employee engagement and increase productivity which will allow a company to reach its goals, “From productivity and engagement in the organization’s day-to-day, to an employer brand that naturally fuels recruiting efforts, to creating a lasting brand that customers immediately recognize, there’s no escaping it – culture radiates outward into the marketplace” (Straz 2015). The culture can have a great impact on the employees. Employees thrive in a positive working environment and the ability to engage with their managers without fear of retaliation.

An organisation’s culture is a collaborative process of shared meanings that attain social order, alongside delivering roadmaps on what to do, think and feel. (Jones & May 1992). Over time the work culture develops beliefs, norms and values which are shared assumptions and behaviours learned by individuals. These jointly held beliefs and interpretations are key aspects for achieving organisational goals and shared action.

This company’s style is nothing remotely close to a corporate culture or a formal leading style, if anything I would have to say that it has quite an informal management style and management responsibilities. From what was written in the case study, the atmosphere was describe to sound as if it had an easy going, relaxed or casual vibe. It is very unconventional to say the least, just alone with having no titles or set leaders in place. Leaders are based off of expertise and skill that may be present and needed on a project to project basis (Maxwell, 2008). Teams within this company were controlled by themselves, as they were all self-managing with each associate playing their part (Maxwell, 2008).
Organisational values can be described as a “belief that a specific mode of conduct is preferable to an opposite or contrary mode of conduct” (Rokeach, 1973). Some organisations describe them as their ‘guiding beacons’ whilst others describe them as part of their philosophy. As Diageo explains ‘Our values are not just words on a page – they are in our DNA. They underpin everything we do and are reflected in the day-to-day behaviour of the company.’ –
The experience that employees have should reflect and the values and culture that the company itself believes in.
