In today’s globalized business environment being able to leverage every resource is expected and required. A company’s core values are akin to an individual’s personal core values. In the same sense that the value is what your friends, family, co-workers, social groups know are important to you and that you hold firm. It is from this core value set that companies derive or extrude their core competencies.
The company’s values are: teamwork, learning, having fun, ethics and integrity, empowerment and accountability, and agility. (Grainger, About Us, 2015) Teamwork refers to trusting others and valuing their teammates and/or customers opinions. The learning value component means to acquire information from both the successes and failures. The company defines the value of having fun by creating a healthy work-life balance and celebrating when appropriate. Ethics and integrity is self-explanatory, being fair and consistent in every encounter.

Introduction Organizational culture has been defined as the ““the deep, basic assumptions and beliefs that are shared by organizational members,” (Clegg, 208). Organizational culture can be interpreted in many ways, often an organization has multiple cultures. A strong organizational culture, is one in which employees share the same values. This company’s style is nothing remotely close to a corporate culture or a formal leading style, if anything I would have to say that it has quite an informal management style and management responsibilities. From what was written in the case study, the atmosphere was describe to sound as if it had an easy going, relaxed or casual vibe. It is very unconventional to say the least, just alone with having no titles or set leaders in place. Leaders are based off of expertise and skill that may be present and needed on a project to project basis (Maxwell, 2008). Teams within this company were controlled by themselves, as they were all self-managing with each associate playing their part (Maxwell, 2008).

The experience that employees have should reflect and the values and culture that the company itself believes in.
In Jane Yolen’s “Suzy and Leah”, Suzy and Leah have very different opinions about one another but soon find out about their similarities. Leah is a German-Jewish refugee who came to the United States to escape Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. The Importance of a Company’s Culture The culture of a company is one of the most important and sometimes overlooked factors in an organization.
