Those characteristics are engaging, responsive, and approachable. Educators need to be engaging, the effect of teacher’s enthusiasm gives learners motivation to learn. For this training the motivation for the learner is because it’s their job. They are intrinsic based on survival, so they have to do well for the holiday season. Educators have to be responsive just responding yes or no to a question can’t truly reflect on the question so it needs to be explained well when the learners ask.

In my opinion, Elaine K. McEwan could not have chosen a better trait than “the communicator” to begin her book, 10 Traits of Highly Effective Principals (McEwan, 2003). The remaining nine traits are powerfully essential to the success and transformation of a school yet without proper communication, their ability to initiate change is diminished. Conflict resolution, implementation of programs, changes in procedures, progress monitoring updates, and parent meetings are just a few examples which illustrate the necessity of an effective communicator. Communication is the key which turns the lock opening the door leading to change. When it comes to being a true communicator, my principal has the ability to be effective but not the follow through.

Being an outstanding teacher goes beyond acquiring the competence and knowledge to deliver rigorous academic instruction to a diverse group of students. Student Engagement A good teacher should know how to engage students in learning activities and be able to respond to diverse students needs in the classroom. The classroom observations I have seen these past week has shown me examples of good teachers. In all the classes I observed the students sat quietly and were always ready to raise their hands and answer questions. In my kindergarten class all the students were really into their assignments and wanted approval of their work from their teacher.
A teacher is a person who delivers an educational program, assesses student participation in an educational program, and administers or provides consistent and substantial leadership to an educational program. Teachers have the very important responsibility of shaping our generation to become someone one days. A teacher is also an agent for the realization of national educational philosophy which to produce individuals who are balanced in terms of physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social. Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
But, among all the above factors, the teacher has the most important role for efficient and quality learning. Markley (2011) stated that Good and qualified teachers are essential for efficient functioning of educational systems and for enhancing the quality of learning. A good teacher and actions to be taken on his part in the classroom play a vital role in provoking effective and efficient learning on the part of the students. Parents trust their children to be taught and educated at school, to be hoped that they will become good and qualified human beings. A teacher takes an important role in motivating the students to get their success in their life.
