Through education nurses are taught to provide safe and professional care to their patients. Too become a Registered Nurse (RN) there is two major educational paths one could take: an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN). However BSN is a 4-year degree while ADN is a 2-year degree, which brings up a big debate on whether nurses who receive longer education, makes a difference in the level of care a patient will receive. During the post war era there was a nursing shortage because there was a limit amount of RNs to serve the needs of resident population and meet the needs of the US military.
