In this society that students live in the only way that they think they know how to tell people’s intelligence is by going to college. By not going to college the students think that they have more of an opportunity to explore the world then other people in college,but some disagree with this opinion and some agree that the source of all opportunity is the person and not their educational level. The high school you attend greatly impacts the college you attend as well as how prepared you are for college. I am inspired to participate in the Law and policy program at Towson High School because of its outstanding academic achievements, wonderful community, and most importantly fantastic learning opportunities. Friends of mine who attend Towson High School for the law and policy program continue to rave about the amazing experiences they have gotten from being part of the program. Those experiences would help me achieve my goal of becoming a lawyer. Laws affect every aspect of society.
The classes at ICC tend to be very small, usually between 20 and 25 students. The individual attention that students receive at a community college is typically far greater than most students receive at a 4-year university, especially in general education courses. All of ICC’s courses are taught by a professor instead of a teacher’s assistant. It is not uncommon for a teacher’s assistant at a 4-year universities to teach an entire course. The professors at ICC care a lot about the students and their performance in the classroom.
Every high school student must make a decision on what type of secondary school to attend. Some students already know what they want to do with their futures and the decision is easy, but for most they have to weigh their options carefully and decide on what will best suit them. Traditional college is always pushed on students throughout high school, and it seems Trade schools are always forgotten. Trade schools teach a specific set of skills, tuition is cheaper, and the classes are shorter than a traditional college. Trade schools have several options for career paths that teach students a specific set of skills instead of a broad degree like in traditional college.
Every student, after he or she graduates from high school will have the choice of attending to a University or a two year Community College. I remember Lee, my friend Joe’s brother, asking me after I finished high school and whether or not I wanted to join to a University or a two year Community College. At the time, it took me a week to answer his question. Similarly, if I was to ask any student where he or she wants to go after they finish high school, one might find that they’ll receive different answers, and for different reasons. For some students it is best to go to community college and focus on getting an Associate’s Degree or taking transferable courses.
Picking to attend a Community college for me is the best choice that I picked for my education. Community colleges provide a great service to students in many more ways other than just education. They help students who are unsure what they want to do or are unable to attend a four year university. Community Colleges also provide continuing education even after they have gotten a degree and a job.
