Earning a degree from Rutgers University entails a student like me to do more than just learn a subject; I would master my interest of studies. Enrolling into Rutgers University would give me advantages that other university students do not have access to. That advantage being access to professors that take pride in the research they conduct within their specified fields. An education from Rutgers would entail me to participate and excel in programs that are tailored to bring success to students entering the agricultural industry.
Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) would benefit me greatly in ways that would help me to achieve my goal of becoming a horticulturist. Agricultural studies interest me for multiple reasons. The first reason being that I am interested in an entrepreneurial and innovative education within the agribusiness. I have always had an interest in farming; growing up in New Jersey has given me unique opportunities to work on farms. Throughout high school, I was fortunate enough to work on organic farms. Growing up and having those experiences of the agricultural industry is what gave me guidance for my future. Pursuing a degree in agriculture and food systems would give me an opportunity to tailor my coursework to meet the requirements of a specific interest such as controlled-environment and precision agriculture.
