I choose these sources because they offer a greater understanding into the conflicting viewpoints that surround the CRISPR technology. By taking into account both the positive and negative consequences that could arise from the implementation of the CRISPR technology I can confidently take part in the conversation that is taking place in this community. The majority of my sources consist of scholarly articles that give either a basic summary or an in depth analysis of one or both sides to the issue. Included in my sources are articles that layout a plan to follow that will result in a more informed population that is able to better make decisions about the ever advancing CRISPR- Cas9 technology. Ledford supports her claim by addressing potential uses for the technology while also considering the possible consequences that could arise from the implementation. Mathews et al. support their assertions by giving recommended courses of action that the researchers can follow in order to keep the public's’ support. The recommendations that the authors make include creating a basic framework that the world can follow, including representatives from all groups in debates about genome editing, and design ways to have productive conversations about controversial issues (Mathews, para 4, 7, 14, 15). The author’s purpose is to set some guidelines for CRISPR research in order to progress the technology while including everyone in on the conversation .
