When a baby is born, they are raised to become parents. It’s the cycle of life. A person grows up, raises a kid and then they do the same. Not everyone signs up to be a parent though, unless they adopt, or are trying hard to have a kid. Accidents do happen when the baby is brought to this world without being planned. Being a parent has no race or gender, or even requires two parents. To be a parent means to raise a child, not create one. There are many happy couples who are same-sex and opposite sex, and many single moms or dads. Does being a parent mean to be happy? Overall yes. A person can go their whole life dreaming of the day they become parents and then having that dream shut down by the inability to raise a child. There’s a lot of gay couples who are told this daily from adoption centers. In many states these couples are not accepted to adopt yet. In Florida, same-sex couples aren’t allowed to adopt and in other states adoption centers are allowed to discriminate against same-sex couples (Dahir). In “Sixteen states seek to ban gay adoption”, A twelve-year-old boy speaks on his journey of being a son to a same-sex couple. He talks about being lucky and grateful that he was adopted by his parents and wishes other kids had this luck. Many children go their whole life without being adopted because adoption centers are against or have the right to discriminate same-sex couples (Dahir). Adoption should be open to any parents in all states, kids and couples should be able to find each other and create connections and be happy. Being a parent is a blessing to all these couples who do have the privilege to adopt. With many states discriminating these couples it is a blessing to be able to adopt. Not only to the parents but to the kids as
