Abortion
Abortion has been a controversial topic that has caused divisions within our countries for a long time now. Many people are pro-life, they believe that performing an abortion on an unborn baby is the equivalent of murder, and should not be legal. Period. On the other hand, we have people that are pro-choice--they believe that since women are the ones that have to carry around what’s basically a parasite in their body for nine months and then care for it, they should be able to choose whether or not they actually want to have the child. Back and forth, back and forth. Our country as argued for this for far too long. I have come up with a definitive answer to this long standing question …show more content…

Unfortunately, not everyone is ready to give all of these things to an unexpected baby. With the absence of these necessities, the child would not be happy. According to Unintended Pregnancy Prevention, “49% of pregnancies [are] unintended.” A mother that is forced to have a child that was unexpected might not be able to give the baby all of the love, patience, dedication, attention, and time the baby both needs and deserves. Without love, the baby’s childhood would be miserable. And since, personality built upon a person’s memories, the child would most likely grow up to be a sad person without any happy memories. However all this could be avoided mothers are able to end unplanned pregnancies instead of giving birth to a child the mother does not want--a child that might not grow up with the devotion it needs.
There are people that believe that abortion should be illegal because it is murder. These pro life people are wrong, however, because according to Stephen Unger, a professor at Columbia University, fetus is just a potential human being, and not yet an actual human being. Since murder is the killing of a human being, abortion is not murder. Some people believe that abortion should be illegal in all circumstances.
