Utopia and reality mark the coexistence of countries at different levels, such as political, economic social. The reality tends to dominate in times of war and crisis, while in times of peace, utopian ideals arise. Likewise, people's lives are naturally marked by decisions and choices sometimes guided by idealism, sometimes by rationality. The debate on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) is a typical case of the relation between the utopian universe and the plane of reality. A strong ideology is present regarding the issue of the African government and genetically modified crops because the GMOs are being rejecting, even that the Africa leaders are facing famine. The utilization of genetically modified crops in various countries of the world, including the United States, in addition to researches to assay the food safety, showed that foods are safe for consumption and beneficial for the environment. It is not a question of impose the view that modified crops is not a danger as said Carol Thompson, there is an environmental issue involved. With the intensification of climate change and the growth of the population, agriculture will have to make use of all the technological tools to ensure productivity. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), 25% of people in the world with poor daily nutrition are located in sub-Saharan Africa. However, efforts to reduce hunger in the region have been hampered by the lack of arable land, inadequate rainfall, low soil fertility and the devastating effects of pests and diseases in crops. Better technologies are needed to solve the problems in agriculture. Combining biotechnology to combat these problems and consequently a more sustainable agriculture, enables the productivity increased and consequently the food supply.
