Why GMOs are Good Genetically Modified Foods are a new innovation in modern day agriculture. However, one may feel uncertain about it as it’s still relatively new innovation. On the other hand Genetically Modified Foods are giving us the opportunity to add more nutrition and gain more food. This new innovation will not only help feed the starving populations, but the entire human population that grows higher every day. Genetically Modified Foods or for short GMO’s are really nothing new as we humans have been modifying foods for thousands of years. For example, the corn we know today wasn’t always as big but got its form due to artificial selection by early farmers. In addition, GMOs allow us to add more nutritional content to our food by adding more of vitamins A,B,C,D,B12, etc. Furthermore, it has also stated by “Beef Research” GMO corn and soy have been used in “multiple generations of food-producing animals have been consuming 70-90 percent of GE crop biomass for almost 20 years”. Along with the nutritional content GMOs also have other uses. For one, GMOs can be modified to allow farmers to grow more yield per crop which according to the article “10 Reasons To Eat GMOs and Feel Grateful For It” could mean an “18 to 29 per cent”increase. This increased yield would be very helpful to all farmers in both developed and developing countries. Along with the increased yields, GMOs use less land for the same amount of land which can further help poor farmers and save forests from being destroyed to use as farmland. Furthermore, according to Fitness reloaded, GMOs also use less pesticides which we use to drive away insects from our crops however they can have serious environmental damage. But due to GMOs, we “reduced pesticide spraying (1996-2012) by 503 million”. Less pesticide use can also further help farmers as it can lower their expenses and further increase their profits and further reduce poverty in developing
