stricter gun laws are not needed in the united states. One argument is , if guns were outlawed criminals would still find ways to arm themselves. Gun control laws won’t stop mass shootings. Most shootings are from criminals that want to kill people like gangs kill people because they don't give them the drugs.
The con side of gun control laws made good points as to why more laws would not be in the benefit of the people but they did not provide credible sources to increase the credibility of their claims. A lot of their references included well known newspapers such as the Chicago Tribune and the NY Times. While they did reference the Supreme Court, US Fish and Wildlife Services, and the Heritage Foundation I believe that these few sources are not enough to support their claims and make them credible. When looking at their Top Con quotes I found that they used a lot more credible sources such as US representatives, senators, and the Founder and President of Crime Prevention Research Center. Therefore they were able to make their claims more credible.
The U.S may not come to an agreement on gun reform anytime in the near future but there have been agreements on gun reform in the country’s past. One of the first gun legislation passed was the National Firearms Act. The bill was “designed to make it difficult to obtain types of fire- arms perceived to be especially lethal or to be the chosen weapons of ‘gangsters’” (Gun Control Overview 5). The bill was designed to combat the amount of gang violence occurring in the early 1920s.
No guns. no violence? Months ago, the news channels broadcasted the several mass shootings with took place, mostly at eventful areas. The shooting at L.A. was without a doubt, the most shocking and mournful accident. Ever since then, fear started entering the minds of citizens, questions rose about the restrictions of using guns and to maximize the difficulty to obtain firearms.
The U.S. is in dire need of stricter gun control laws. Many citizens would refute this claim, however, not the majority. In fact, the large majority of United States citizens are in agreement that stricter gun control is needed (Spitzer). Why then are so few gun control bills passed into law? The answer is influence, and perhaps even more so passion.
Gun control should be allowed if they use the guns the right way and not abuse it by using it for the wrong reasons or just to go around shooting people. In order to have a gun you should be able to shoot it and you need to have a license to show how old you are to see if you're old enough to have a gun. There are some pros and cons to gun control. One pro is that three quarters of the guns that was obtained legally by the killers, and if there was pro gun control advocates believe tougher gun laws would potentially prevent any crimes. The gun control laws protect children and their families, the moms demand action, people believe that the guns in America is creating a public health crisis that is attacking the children.
Criminals don’t follow laws. Gun control laws are more oppressive on citizens than criminals, which is literally someone who has broken, or is breaking, a law. Why are some gun control laws and rulings so heavily pushed? Especially considering that the majority of these laws have very little actual basis aside from the “guns are scary and bad” train of thought. This is going to be going into why most of these laws, current, and proposed, make no sense such as the Magazine Capacity bans that some states are putting in place, the entirety of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), and the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban(AWB).
How can the crime be done if there are stricter limits for owning guns? If so many people didn’t have ownership of guns would homicide be a problem? Often times authority do not need stricter penalties they just need stricter gun control laws. Although gun laws are good for making sure guns don’t end up in the wrong hands, it also limits citizen’s rights to be able defend themselves if something goes wrong. Homicide is a major problem in the U.S.
In the United States, a single violent crime takes place every 26.3 seconds (FBI National Data). Many people have their own ways of thinking to help stop these crimes from happening. These ideas vary from harsher penalties for crimes to banning our weapons. Gun control laws will not help prevent crimes from taking place. The criminals will still obtain the weapons, it will only lead to more victims, and people will still find other ways to kill each other.
The United States has more than 3 million population, accounting for about 6 percent of the world’s population. But the U.S. shooting rampage accounts for nearly 31 percent. Although many people try to carry out some policies about gun control, such as Obama and Clinton, but neither of them is successful. Many people may think why gun control is such a controversial issue in America. I think there is a wide array of obstacles and the NRA (National Rifle Association of America) plays a vital role in these obstacles.
Gun control laws should keep guns from going into the wrong hands. However, the United States should not ban guns completely because its ones right to own one. Americans have a tendency to think that owning a gun is a necessary because American society has embedded guns to be part of our culture. Media makes it seem that we must own a gun for our safety. Guns are always displayed on television shows, movies, and video games where masses of people or “monsters” are killed.
This way of thinking is understandable because if we don't get weapons, then how are we supposed to protect ourselves. I also disagree with this because if the laws are more strict then there will be less crime and this will make them not want to do the right thing. Some argue that making gun control laws more strict is not the best way to go. ( Sheldon Richman) argues that gun control is ineffective at preventing crime.
Did you know there’s about 30,000 deaths and 70,000 gun injuries a year according to the daily news? So there’s about 40-50 deaths a day in America. I am taking a stand on more gun regulation because people who believe that guns needs to be regulated for the following reasons, guns are one of the leading causes of suicide and deaths according to Wikipedia. Also people that have guns commit mass murders, school shooting etc. There are many reasons why guns need to be regulated.

There are as many people who advocate for pro gun laws as the people who are opposed, which is the reason why gun control has become one of the most controversial topics as of right now. America is truly split between those who advocate for gun control and those who are opposed.
We hear every day the deaths of thousands of people occurring just because of misuse of weapons.. People shouldn’t be allowed to carry guns they shouldn’t be trusted in this. Stricter gun laws wills result into less shootings. One should not need such dangerous and harmful weapons just to protect themselves. We can only decrease the murder rate by making guns illegal to use.
