Slavery is thought to be a thing of the past. If you would have asked me two years ago if slavery was still occurring, I unquestionably would have said no. However, human trafficking, a form of modern day slavery, is generating billions of dollars around the world. In 2016, an estimated 40.3 million people were in modern slavery. 1 in 4 of those victims were children. (Global Estimates of Modern Slavery , 2017). Women and girls make up 96% of victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. (Know the Facts: What is Sex Trafficking?, n.d.) We are either unaware or desensitized to this subject, nonetheless, it’s not something that has been spoken about often, until recent years. I believe that Human Trafficking and the Terrible Price of Sex sheds a light on how our world, not just Christians, are lacking in how we care for one another.
